Altech processes WEEE from approved UK suppliers, including IT asset disposition (ITAD) providers, lifecycle management companies, and other accredited recyclers serving major operators in the IT and telecommunications sectors. We process a wide range of WEEE, cables and residues from electronic waste.

Altech operates in full compliance with all relevant UK environmental legislation governing the treatment of WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment). As an Authorised Treatment Facility (ATF), we follow the requirements of the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Regulations 2013 (as amended), ensuring the safe processing and recovery of electronic waste. Particular emphasis is placed on the identification and correct handling of hazardous components, including those containing Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs), such as brominated plastics, capacitors, and printed circuit boards.

In line with Environment Agency guidance, all materials containing Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) are sent to specialist recycling facilities where incineration processes ensure their complete destruction. For certain hazardous fractions, such as PCBs, Altech arranges export to integrated smelting plants in Europe under the Transfrontier Shipment of Waste (TFS) procedure. These shipments are carried out in accordance with UK waste export regulations, which implement the requirements of Regulation (EC) No. 1013/2006 on shipments of waste. All exports are conducted under fully notified controls, with approval from the Environment Agency and all relevant receiving authorities.

To help clients meet their own compliance and ESG obligations, we provide full traceability and downstream supply chain information. This includes treatment routes, disposal methods, and details of all approved partners, supporting regulatory reporting, audit readiness, and responsible waste management.

Downstream partners in both the UK and Europe are carefully selected and monitored to ensure that all materials are treated, recycled, or disposed of through permitted and traceable channels.
